To all you Mamas....
I know it feels invisible.Sometimes, we wake up earlier than everyone in our house, or we go to bed later. We debate whether we should watch a show on Netflix, get the dishes done, or sneak a much-needed hour of sleep. We change the diapers, the clothes, the dance costumes. We search for missing library books, and sweep under the table for the crumbs. We savor the cuddles, we rock them, we patch up their boo-boos. Motherhood is messy and wild and unexplainable...it is both crushingly busy and extraordinarily lonely. So know this today, mamas:On the days when your hair is in a messy bun for the 10th day in a row, the beds are unmade, and the dishes are overflowing, remember that you are enough. You are not a failure. Your to-do list may be a mile long, but I know you have chosen hugs and kisses and bedtime stories, and family dinners over checking everything off, and that's the best mothering of all. Keep loving and cheering for, and championing your kids. Keep your eyes on your own paper, so to speak, because comparison doesn't win us anything but guilt and shame. Encourage the mamas around you. We are all just doing the best we can.For those who have lost babies, or long to be a mom, I am so sorry. I know the deep pain of a broken heart, and the hole that losing a babe etches into our hearts. I pray you feel seen, loved, and known by a big God. May He bless you in the sweetest of ways today as long for and mourn for the family and children your heart desires. You are not forgotten this Mother's Day.Happy Mother's Day to the adoptive, foster, biological, surrogate, and stand-in mommies everywhere. I hope you know how much the little people in your life love you!
