Must Have Items for Baby

We are preparing to meet our sweet babe soon, and I wanted to hop on and share some of our must-haves for a brand new little ones. We are about to welcome our second child, and so I've learned a thing or two about the things I've loved and used! Here are some ideas as you build your registry or wish list. It's a great way to pass the time if you are in quarantine ;-)-Moses basket: A lightweight and pretty Moses type basket is ideal for the brand new baby, straight from the hospital. It takes up less space than a bassinet, and it's portable. If you have a C-section, you should limit your lifting, but if you have a non surgical delivery, it's great to take from room to room as you nurse and rest. Be sure to purchase one with the solid and flat bottom section, so it's safer to a newborn to sleep in with supervision. They are also great for homes with limited storage space, or when you want a prettier aesthetic than a plastic newborn crib.-Burpy bib: These are amazing!!! They are large, substantial burp rags that wash beautifully, and then they snap around the neck to make a bib. They truly are one of the most versatile things you can get for baby, and they can be used well into the toddler years. You can also tuck a few into the car for spit up, spills, or other mishaps. You can find them at Aiden and Anais.-Nursing cover: One of the multipurpose covers is such a great idea! You can use them on your carseat to prevent germs and overly eager strangers from peeking inside at your sleeping babe. You can also wash them, use them as a changing pad in a pinch, or even while pumping at work or in a public area. I actually keep two of them, because they are so useful. While they are obviously great for nursing, they can truly be used for just about anything else you may need. We love the 4 in 1 cover from Milk Snob.-Diaper Bag: When you are choosing one, look for one with insulated pockets for bottles if you are bottle feeding, plenty of zipper compartments, and straps that won't hurt your back. We love the bags from Fawn Design and Freshly Picked...they are fan favorites for a reason! Choose a neutral like black or brown in order to get the maximum usage out of it. If you have the space and budget, a second one to keep at grandma's house, in the car, or in your spouse's car is never a bad idea, especially if you wind up receiving two as gifts. Fill the second bag with extras like diapers, clothes, and more, and you'll never be caught empty-handed.-Haaka Pump: This is a handheld pump that packs a lot of power for being cordless and non electric! It's perfect for catching milk from the side that baby isn't nursing on, or for manually pumping when you are engorged or dealing with nursing issues. Be sure to get the pump that comes with the stand, as no one likes spilled milk, and it's super easy to accidentally tip it over. For under $25, if you are planning to nurse or pump, it's one of the best purchases you can make.
