Sometimes it plays nice and other times, it's our biggest fight. It is a day to day battle to choose to find contentment in our own personal beauty, and to put aside the comparisons and find confidence in who we are. We are equipped with individual talents, gifts and interests, yet we so easily want the ones others have.”Sadie is not only beautiful, she is also thoughtful and wise beyond her years. A wife, and mama of two darling girls, she is also a lifestyle blogger and fashionista! I loved her raw, honest words on beauty and insecurity. We did this snowy session with one of her best friends (who you’ll meet on the blog soon, she’s just as lovely!)."One of my biggest passions is giving confidence back to those who may be lacking it; I just love encouraging others in their talents. To lift them up and leave them better than when I found them. Now you know what they say, practice what you preach. I fall short of this a lot. It may be a huge passion for me to make others to feel beautiful and confident, but so often I don't feel any of that myself. It can be so challenging for me to grab hold of that confidence I know the Lord instills in me every single day. For me, the root of the problem doesn't specifically stem from jealousy or comparison even but mostly self doubt. I doubt that I am a good enough wife, mother, daughter or friend constantly. I feel insecure about my humor or my unique style and beauty. I want to hide who I am, and put on a mask to be someone I am not to please others. I feel so silly at the end of the day, especially a bad one where I didn't call upon the Lord. I could go days without doing this, trying to make myself feel better on my own. I learn rather quickly that I cannot, and without Him constantly in my life it just gets uglier and uglier, and that is when I typically start comparing myself to others and finding jealousy in my heart. I cannot feel confident and beautiful in who I am if my heart is not of Christ”, says Sadie. "Feeling beautiful with a Christ centered heart is nothing to be ashamed of or to hide. It is inspiring to everyone around you. A smile at the grocery store, a helpful hand to another mom, a compliment, or a thoughtful gift, all of these gestures send encouragement which leads to confidence. If we all spend more time lifting up others in their journey to find confidence and beauty in themselves... oh, how happy our Heavenly Father will be. If we all were to think more positively of others, how happy our Heavenly Father will be. If we were to pour our lives into each other with genuine thoughtful hearts, oh, how happy our Heavenly Father will be. I hope these verses encourage you to find joy!"
